Transition from Home to Residential Care: From the Family Caregiver's Perspective.
When the time comes for a family member to move into residential care, the decision leading to this transition can be very difficult for everyone involved. It is often made during a time of crisis, either because the care recipient can no longer safely be cared for at home or because family members are too burnt out. Relief can be felt by the family caregiver, but it is often in conflict with other emotions such as guilt and grief. There can also be a sense of loss as your role as caregiver shifts. Coming from the family caregiver’s perspective, this webinar will focus on the emotional aspects of making this difficult decision, suggestions for easing the transition and how your role as family caregiver will shift.
